If I may ask: Why is ACW popular outside of the USA?

The romance of the era, the attraction of the rebel, and the consideration that a large percentage of entlistees in the Union Army were native European. There were several regiments from various states that were comprised of all native German speakers. One has to consider that a large percentage of the American population at that point were recent immigrants from Europe.

The Confederacy too had entire Irish, German and even Native American regiments.

Also do not discount the influence Hollywood has had on the rest of the world for the past 100 years.
