Broadword Lessons
« on: 2014-04-01, 03:14:55 »
Had my first broadsword lesson tonight, which was a lifetime dream come true, outside of the dry heaving it was quite enjoyable. I am way more out of shape than I thought, but at least now I have something to motivate me to actually do something about it. Here's to hoping I improve somewhat over the next 6 months.

aye, that is how I felt after my german longsword class a long time ago...i never went back...mostly because I found SCA more fun (I like the dressing up bit and full force combat)...but definitely on my list of things to do whenever my schedule is more free!

I'm only two lessons in, but so far it's quite fun. I've learned simple cuts and parries with the longsword and three dagger disarms. Later on, we're supposed to cover sword and shield and even sword and spear.

So who is providing your training if I may ask. In the greater DC area you have a lot of great choices since we are all fortunate to be in a virtual 'Mecca' of WMA organizations.  ;)

It's the brand new European Academy of Martial Arts in Alexandria, VA. A bit of a drive, but I think it's worth it.
