"It wasn't the reward that mattered or the recognition you might harvest. It was your depth of commitment, your quality of service, the product of your devotion -- these were the things that counted in a life. When you gave purely, the honor came in the giving, and that was honor enough."

A Proper DL-44

Much like living history, geeking out on the most minute detail of kit, so too do rabid fans of sci-fi and fantasy!  Anyway, I was geeking out on Adam Savage's youtube channel and thought some of you could appreciate this.

A custom machined, limited run kit for making Han Solo's DL-44 blaster as accurate as possible:

That's really cool! Man, right down to the writing on the scope. Neat to watch someone else do it, but I'd never have the patience to get that anal...ytical. ;D

I always liked that the OT blasters were built onto real-life firearms. They looked like real, serviceable weapons instead of cheesy sci-fi guns *cough* Amidala'sEpIBlaster *cough*.
Per pale azure and argent, an eagle displayed per pale argent and sable, armed and langued or.

Awesome - wonder what those machined parts run?  Thanks for sharing!

He does an awesome job on all of his prop replicas. At one point he did a short talk on his quest to build the perfect "Maltese Falcon". He mentioned some of the obsession that goes into getting the details right.

The upshot is that he did everything as best he could, but forgot about size-loss in repeated moldings and castings, so his replica is perfect in detail, but about 2/3 size. :)
