Your city had the better Football team.

Football?
...Ah yes, that's the sport I would be more impressed with if they wore steel armor and had poleaxes! ;)

I've been saying for years that I might actually watch the superbowl if they all had longswords. ;)

Football does have its roots in antiquity; to me it is reminiscent of the melee style battles of the old jousts before it became a more civilized (and to me, less exciting) fare.

We also have the most annoying football fans. Though if they all started waving around flails instead of their towels, I'd go for that. ;)

Isn't Maryland's official state sport jousting?

Yup, since 1962, but has been practiced even in colonial times.

It is, sort-of. The version of jousting, is the "jousting games" version, such as lancing a ring. It's not the "full tilting at each other" kind. Also, there's been a strong movement to replace it with Lacrosse as the official sport.

I think last I heard, they compromised and made Lacrosse the official modern sport, and Jousting the official historical sport... or something like that. Might be worth googling.

I sure hope they don't move, the lay out at MDRF is so perfect! Though I get why they would want to. I sure hope they don't become like the PARF.

MDRF is nothing but traffic congestion at its present location. I would not mind easing that so I can get there on time for once.

PARF is located on the private land of a winery. Doesn't get any better than that . :) :) :)

I meant the physical landscape and the shady woods. The traffic is terrible, I must admit. But like I said, I hope the relocation would keep the same atmosphere and environment.

And the drive will be within reason.
I also want to say they have really sweet wine there. I hear that's not great.

This is the proposed new location if they can get past all the zoning meetings. Not a bad location I think even though it will add another 30 minutes travel for me since MD-301 kind of sucks with the traffic lights.  :-\

I think this is the parking location, on google maps:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/6100+Southern+Maryland+Blvd/@38.775317,-76.6684567,2952m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x89b791c005354521:0xf69176025e77b60

For us, the distance is about the same. It just means going around the south side of the beltway instead of north.

This is further away from me...so I'm sad.  But...if it is due to growth, then I'm happy.

Looks about 10 miles farther to me... 100 miles vs 90 miles, more or less. And having to go around south-side beltway, which will add a number of stoplights and likely traffic delays. Guess that'll reduce how many times I go.

Boy it would be nice if any event was inside 200 miles for me :)

The only exception is VARF at a measly 147 miles.

It’s great that they’re considering moving because they’re getting bigger and all, but they’re moving in the wrong direction! They need to move more northwest-ish....it’s purely coincidental that that direction would put it closer to me. ;)
