Leather cover on scabbard core

<< < (3/4) > >>

Lord Dane:
Very nice work and good detail. The stitching looks solid.

Sir Martyn:
Nicely done, Sir Humphrey!

Mike W.:
For those of us who have worked with leather only once or twice, how would you rate the difficulty of this? Any tips/tricks? I want to make my own as I cannot afford a custom made one, but I only have very limited experience, though tools I have at my disposal.

Sir Humphrey:
Wilburnicus,

I've been working leather for 30+ years and have completed some pretty complex projects in the past.  This was not a big deal for me, but I think it would be challange for a beginner.  If you don't have to invest in tools, then I suggest you just go for it.  You have time to lose, and more you experiment, the better your products will be.

Ian:
Mark, I can't quite see the stitch used on the back seam.  Is it a butted seam with a edge/grain stitch?
