aerial camera footage of SCA battle
« on: 2013-10-16, 19:29:57 »
As most of you know, I'm not really into SCA style combat, but even I must admit the creative use of a RC helo with a GoPro camera really brings some awesome footage of an SCA battle:

Yeah, that is pretty cool. Those GoPro cameras open up a world of possibilities.

Wow, that is neat. We just need to get a GoPro, a remote controlled helicopter, and somebody who knows how to fly one. :D

You will see several of my friends from my kingdom and others there. Look for a yellow and White tabbard with a swan on it, thats our Prince, the spear with the yellow field with a green laurel wreath on it is the Kingdom Standard bearer.

At one point Sir Miles and his centergrip rectangle shield in red and black armor is center ground.

The aerial view makes it appear very epic!

Me too, I didn't want to outright volunteer them.

How does the combat system work at sca?
Like when you get hit do you lose that part of the body,
do you need to be hit 3 times?
respawns?

If you are hit 2" above the knee or wrist, you lose that limb. If you are hit in the torso from the hips to the neck you are dead. If you are hit in the head you are dead. That is the general rules but it can depend on the tournament if those change but for the most part they usually don't. Some tournaments might be counted blows but usually they are best 2 out of 3.

The general system is to be hit anywhere from 1" below the wrist to 1" above the knee with sufficient force (yes things can be too light) If you are hit in a limb you lose the use of the limb, if you are hit in the head, neck, body, or crotch you have lost for you are "dead". If a mass weapon (Axe, Mace, Poleweapon, 2 handed sword) hits you in the shoulder or hip you are also dead.

We also do pas d'arms with counted blows and other things too but the above is the general system.
