that's a great resource for someone looking to tailor their mail.  Good find Sir Wolf!

I did check, couldn't help it, and nope, not enough poundage of mail to go around for what I need  ;D  good find nonetheless.

I should pick some rings up but I already am getting my maille tailored. When I get my small bits of maille that are trimmed off if I have enough i'll just order those rings and make some mittens to attach to my hauberk.

That's smart thinking Sir Ulrich!  I like that idea.  Nice perk for you being skinnier than most of us

http://www.kultofathena.com/new_items.asp also a ton of loose rings!!!!!!!!!!!

We must have seen this at the same time on KOA because I ordered an aventail the same day. :)

i want pics when it comes. and one on the helmet too! lol i am thinking of getting one, but i worry that i'd need to get some rings due to that face opening being to "low" and need to be tightened up

Yes oh impetuous one! ;)

I just put the camera battery into the charger this morning so I can do this very thing! I don’t think I’ll have it on the helm this evening but by my estimation it does ride higher up the chin than my old butted maille aventail, yet seems it will be shorter draping on the shoulders, enough that I’m considering getting some of the flat riveted brass rings to dress it up a bit! ;)

Here is the original aventail. I'm pretty sure the new one will be higher up the face but may need a few additional rings added after I put it on which will take a few more days as I had to use the remaining time I had last night cleaning up this nasty rust I discovered under the old aventail's leather strap!  :(

Rust does love leather! The leather soaks ambient moisture that evaporates off the top first, but some passes through behind it to the metal. If you remove straps to replace them, similar stuff happens around the rivet head. I have the same on my bascinet along the liner lacing just from it being worn at the photoshoot.

Only place I've seen pin riveted brass rings is Cap-A-Pie. I have some wedge riveted brass I got from Historic Enterprises, but they came with mild steel rivets for some reason. If you find a supplier let me know!
