No portable hole? Did you look in your bag of infinite holding?

Or make one...

"infinite bag of holding"? don't you mean a large carpet bag that's "practically perfect in every way?"  ;)

Sir Wolf, I do like your idea of the garden spike.  What kind of glue did you use to withstand the elements? Gorilla Glue, epoxy of some form?  I too, would love to make a spear banner, and to make some form of spiked holder for it would just be extra awesome.

cool.  KISS method  :)
yeah, right now, I'm trying to make 4 yards of fabric which I'm sure was enough when I started, become enough fabric for the cappa clausa/habbit/robe thingy  ;D
doesn't help I'm built like a barn door, or rather maybe a barrel lol

that, and trying to translate what they're trying to explain here lol I wish it was the cm to inches that was the problem lol  ;D

well, my banner got another section added to it. it seems it was period for a knight to have his country first before his colors. so i am adding the white background and the red cross of st George.  also thinking about painting my rampant lion and shells on it as well. as if i didn't have enough crap to do.

That's pretty cool to know!  I wonder when Scotland started flying the Cross of St. Andrew?  I'd love to have that on the front of my banner!

Also, I completed my cappa clausa/habit/robe in seven hours in one night.  Very cool looking.  I love the 54" hood on it as well.  I had to smidge ideas for the hood, as it doesn't look like there were pleats used back then, but I wanted a wider hood as well.  We found our camera, but still no charger for it  :o ::) fricken leprechauns! :D

Put the points on the inside not the outside

huh i am not following lol. the way i've always done it is put both point ends from the inside of the jacket to the outside, then thru the armour. being that this is mail i will have a piece of leather on top of the mail to take some of the load off when i tie.

For a padded jacket, where the hem is about mid-thigh length, if you point your legs to the inside of the jacket, you will have better range of motion.  If you point to the outside front of the jacket, the jacket itself will interfere with range of motion and fit of the chausses.  From the outside, it will also cause your chausses to pin the jacket to the front of your legs, which you want to avoid.  The jacket should hang over the front of the chausses instead.  Or just use a seprate vest but we know that's not really historical.

Do the opposite. Points on the inside. Like if you flipped it inside-out. Then the chausses don't sit over the coat, they sit under it. Tried it with my arming coat & cuisses, I like it. Also keeps the mail from banging the cuisses, since the jacket is in-between. Can take pics if you need them.

Ah quit your bellyaching! At least you will have a banner! I got word from Isabella E that she won’t be able to ship mine out until the end of May! :'(

Your banner looks awesome!  :)

Hey btw, that is a great looking rampant lion on your banner. Is it embroidered or an appliquĂ© and if it is an appliquĂ© how big is it? I’m thinking about the child sized William Marshal surcoat I’m having made or will end up making myself since I haven’t been able to get a hold of my seamstress these past two weeks.  :-\
