Treating Leather
« on: 2013-04-04, 20:28:33 »
This is a request for tips on how to deal with dyed but unsealed leather.  I just got some arms and legs done by West Coast Armory and while nicely made, the dye gets all over while I'm handling it and I'm thinking I need to rub it down with something to seal in the color.  Any thoughts, fellows?

Let me see what I use at home and I will let you know...the leather on my rig is sealed with it and doesn't run

I think the general consensus with armor is to seal it with wax. Historically, they waxed their points/laces, so waxing the leather wouldn't be out of the question. I certainly defer to anyone who knows for sure, as I am just making a guess.

That resolene stuff that Sir Brian pointed to me should do the trick; this is already dyed, just need to make it so it sticks.  Considering getting some blue dye to even it out- its kinda splotchy looking.
