guarder badges
« on: 2013-02-16, 15:55:13 »
ok. quick question. does anyone have any updates they would like seen to the order badges? i am about ready to start on a new batch. i am going to make a new one for the knight commander, giving it a lil flair over the others... nothing to much though.

anyone? size? shape? (can't change the thickness of leather cause this is what I have), the way it attaches to the guarder belt?

I was curious if they could be made out of two pieces. The shield with the Marshal's COA on one piece attached to a strip of leather for the strap tabs. Gluing them together might be good enough or they may require a couple of stitches. What do you think?  :-\

hmmm looking it over. 1 piece is actually the easiest and least wasteful of leather. i am worried if i sew them it could weaken them. i don't know about gluing leather though. not sure what would work. hmmm

Something nice and not too expensive! ;)

Seriously though the previous batch you made was perfect...BUT if you wanted to experiment...

ok i think I've remade my pattern. made the connection pieces to the belts a lil wider so they didn't blow out like the 2 i had previous.

so far got 4 cut out and ready to paint. 8 more to go ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol

12 badges: cut, cleaned and stamped. waiting on them to dry before i dye, paint and seal. not sure all of those will get done today. maybe the dying.

does anyone have one that can tell me, did I dye the back of them?

No you didn't dye the back of them and I really don't think they need to be. :)

ya i think i didn't cause if they were on armour it would scratch off, and i was worried if it was on clothing it may rub off.

dyed. now it will be awhile before I can paint. the dye has to cure or it will bleed.

Well I missed throwing my thoughts in the hat, but the "slotted on both sides" style where it can be slipped over different belts is kinda cool. Makes it easy to strap the belt on and move the badge itself wherever desired.

I have that slot thing happening on mine...I like it because you can switch it to different straps (if you have any and are so inclined) however, whatever works is fine by me.
