Great helms

Sir Ulrich:
Yeah, that product is very similar to what I want, thing is I am around 5 9 not sure if it would fit me properly. Thats the problem with armor, I cant try it on before I buy it. Also the liner would be a pain, unless

This is the very design I want but it says no longer made which is a real kick to the balls: http://armourandcastings.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=243
All the best armor is made in europe for some reason, americans seem less picky about historical accuracy. GDFB may just be my choice, shame all the good armorers here are out of business.

Sir William:
It isn't that Americans are less picky- just that all of the sources for this stuff originate in Europe.  You do realize there never was an 'American Knight' right?  By the time our country was formed, gunpowder weapons were the norm with the cutlass or saber being relegated to sidearm status.  As for sizing of a helm, with judicious use of padding just about any helm can fit.  For padding you can use a padded cap, and/or with a coif - or you could put the padding into the helm like a lot of the SCA folks do.  Here's a Maj helmet I found on ebaY:

And another Crusade era helm, also on ebaY, different vendor:

Personally speaking, I think the first helm might be of better quality, but that's just a guess based on the photos available.

It does look pretty decent. Wow, the shipping is about $100. The total price with shipping isn't out of the question though, with it coming from Australia.

Sir Wolf:

Sir Ulrich:
That first helm you linked to Sir William, thats a nice helm. I would probably get it if the shipping wasn't so high. All I really want is a finely crafted great helm, one thats hand made basically. Just may end up taking a GDFB one cause I cant find anything else really. Keep in mind I plan to double it for fighting use.
