Agincourt 2015

I`m just going to throw this out there as a suggestion.

For the 600th year aniversary the Agincourt alliance are planning a massive event.

That gives you 4 years to save up and get yourselves over to Europe for one of the biggest medieval aniversary events of our generation ( not just my opinion).
Myself and The Freemen of Gwent would like to extend an invite to you all to be our guests at this prestigious occasion.
Please give this some serious consideration and start getting your 1415 kit together 

On a personal note, I would be more than happy to receive any Modern Chivalry members who would like to attend Agincourt in the seasons preceding 2015.

I will begin work as soon as I complete my current reenacting kits. I think I might have enough time to save up money for the trip and to complete a kit for that time.

I am already planning on getting there. I am working on a ton of research on Agincourt; as far as I have seen most people really don't do Agincourt specific kits they normally just wear later War of the Roses kits at Agincourt events. I hope to publish stuff this winter but maybe more in the spring next year. I am putting together guides for men's clothing using only English and French sources from 1405-1415 and there a surprising amount of manuscripts form that era.

Yes James, up untill recent years the organisers have relaxed the authenticity of kit a little, to garantee good combatent attendance numbers. Every year they request that people try their best to bring and use kit that pre dates 1415. After all it`s not hard to get hold of late 14th/early 15th century kit, it`s just a little expensive isn`t it  .  Hopefully by 2015 they might have a good amount of authentic armour etc on the field.

I have a question about doing combat there, would one be able to come from another country and do combat or will we need to have been tested in some way ahead of time? I did Hastings in 2006 and we trained with Brits who came to America ahead of time and we tested at American events and got on the roll books the year before the big one.

James, if I`m not mistaken, was it you that published a write up about your experiences at Hastings somewhere??
A very good question. I would suggest you look through the Azincourt Alliance web site (English version) thoroughly.
I`m sure a quick e-mail to the Azincourt Alliance wouldn`t be a bad thing. They are all very friendly and helpfull.
For a start, if you were to go over as an individual then you would be expected to have public liability insurance to a minimum of 5million pounds.
As far as combat is concerned, they tend to follow the E.M.A. guide lines. If you are not familliar with these, a run down can be found on the Azincourt Alliance web site in the "safety" section.
If you took part at Hastings then at least you have a little experience with european re-enactment fighting styles. Although after saying that, the guys on the continent go in much harder than some of us in the U.K. lol.

By far the best way would be to join in with a group as their guest and try to get to meet up with them at least a few days before the event. This way you will be under their insurance and should get the chance for a little instruction/preperation.

Our group usually muster the weekend before at Chepstow Castle (South Wales) and travel over to our site at Azincourt about 4/5days before the event. So getting the chance for a bit of sight seeing over there.

COUNT ME IN.  Kit will be complete and passports obtained...if others are serious about going, maybe we could explore a package with a group rate, thereby making it more affordable for all involved?  Just an idea...but I'm going nonetheless.  Just emailed the wife w/the particulars!
