"It wasn't the reward that mattered or the recognition you might harvest. It was your depth of commitment, your quality of service, the product of your devotion -- these were the things that counted in a life. When you gave purely, the honor came in the giving, and that was honor enough."

Just finished watching the first series of this fantasy epic here in the UK. I have really enjoyed it so far......

I've been recording it. My lady and I will watch it together once we get her moved in.

This is a good show...I just finished the fourth book of this series (A Song of Ice and Fire) - there's a fifth to be released next month, can't wait!

If you like this first season, wait til you see the rest...they're going to do one season for each book so expect at least four, maybe five if they adapt this latest one.  I've only been catching the show here and there because I'm reading the entire epic...the books are most excellent fare.

Just finished reading the first one and I am completely sucked in.  It was everything I was wishing LOTR could have been.  Too bad I don't have HBO!  Guess I'll have to wait for the DVD release!

What did you not like about the LOTR movies, Red?

Oh, the movies were fine.  I just thought the books kind of drug a bit.  Also, the Game of Thrones characters seemed more "real" to me.
