The Library / Ford & Sterling from Leverage. Knightly?

James Sterling & Nate Ford from the show Leverage. Knights? Knightly? I am going to say yes because they have a code, live by it, fight for what is right, and are willing to sacrifice to get where they need to be. THey also seem like 2 halves of he same coin.

The Library / A Villain as a Hero? Maybe. Thoughts on Mick Rory akak Heatwave.

Mick Rory, aka "Heat Wave", from Legends of Tomorrow is a study to me in how a very bad man can still be a hero subjectively if one looks at it as attaining common goals using mostly common methods, even if your motivations are rather a bit different. Though I am not sure if he can be said to be knightly. Thoughts?

Here they are offering to let me use their armor, how can I insult them by telling them that their perfectly good armor won't work for me?

No, get out, work the pell. Do slow work in helm with sword & shield.

Make them yourself if you are able, especially gambesons/ aketons. A good fit there means you can more closely tailor your mail. Improves movement and cuts down on weight. Also, a lot of off the rack arming garments aren't stuffed with natural fibers which is bad for heat conduction. Trust me, it's hot enough wearing a kit that's done right.

Arming garments. Start with essentials by doing braies, etc and work outwards.

Start by not saying "ashamed".  We all struggle at times, especially when just starting out.  In the 80's (yes, I'm old) my loaner armour sucked hind tit.  It was ill fitting and actually hurt to wear.  Getting to where you want to be will take some time; enjoy the ride. You'll look back on it with fondness in 30 years, I promise you.   

You are not an "impostor". If you want to fight, you'll be a fighter. Just because everyone else in your area is doing "X", doesn't mean you have to. Find something that works for you.

There's a ton of Viking personalities, armour, and fighting in Minnesota. I found that I really like the mid 14th century and the poleaxe. Find your own thing and be different.

It will take time (and money), but that will come.  As a college student in the late 80's and early 90's I had NO money.  I could barely pay for my share of the gas and beer when we traveled to Iowa and Wisconsin.  The point is to have fun and hit friends with sticks.
