I like the helmets from the movie...considering picking up the Marshal one.  I just wonder what 'metal' they are made of; when they don't specify I usually think its crap.

Yeah usually but sometimes they are adequate for renfaire garb. I met a knight at the 2009 NYRF who claimed his helm was one of the actual props used on the movie timeline that was worn by the Sir William De Kere / William Decker character. It certainly looked like the helm. Sorry for the lame sample picture but there isn’t many picts out there for that movie’s secondary characters. ;)

I wonder if you could find it somewhere else for cheaper? That does seem pricey for a tunic. I'm leaning towards picking up or putting the Robert de Sable tunic on my holiday list. (http://www.museumreplicas.com/p-631-robert-de-sable-tunic.aspx)

I like the de Sable tunic too, seeing as you can't get a KoH one anymore.  The red cross on mine bled one Faire season and the dry cleaner only made it worse.

KoH = Kingdom of Heaven? The Tiberias one?

Sir James, funny you should post that...I have wanted that one as well for some time.  But no, I'm referring to the off-white tunic with the red cross centered on the chest...the Robert de Sable tunic (from the game, Assassin's Creed) is the closest approximation of the KoH one.

Here's a question regarding the Jerusalem tunic- is it historically accurate?

I thought you meant the Ibelin surcoat. But the Tiberias/Jerusalem one is pretty nice.

I was informed that the Ibelin surcoat was historically accurate- although I wasn't clear how.  I have seen that very same design in use in Pillars of the Earth with the same color scheme too.  That in itself of course doesn't mean anything, just thought it worth mentioning.

I was actually referring to, initially, the Crusader surcoat...back in 08 when I was see-sawing over which (Teuton, Crusader, Jerusalem, Ibelin) I went w/the Crusader...and then they stopped making them and mine had bled...oh, it was a sordid tale.  lol

Yeah thats what irritates me, MRL tends to take down their stuff after a while. I woulda bought the KOJ surcoat but I couldnt find it anywhere. Ended up buying a GDFB Templar surcoat but it turned out to be too big for me >:C

That's another thing, sizing.  M is usually for medium, but MRL's medium is deceiving because the chest circumference would suggest a Large rating, but I accidentally bought the L/XL one because I thought THAT should fit.  It was like trying to put on a fully-deployed parachute as a dress.  I'm being facetious, just know that I was literally swimming in it.  But I'm not that big, at 6' and weighing in at 175lbs...so I learned.  Always go with the M, especially for you Conall, as I know you to be slimmer than myself.  OR...you could have one custom-made for you, just need a seamstress of some skill and a fairly concrete idea of what it is you're wanting.

I still haven't asked my Mom to do one up for me yet...I'm waiting to see what we decide to do with the Order, as I may want a surcoat made especially for it.

Yeah, the surcoats are probably sized with larger people wearing armor in mind. To me the whole S/M/L/XL thing is meaningless if they don't also give you a sizing chart with inches.

LOL you're right of course, how arrogant I must seem to assume that it would be suited to fit me.  Live and learn, that's what the process is all about.

Yeah, I've had the same problem with Revival Clothing. Almost every bit of arming clothes I've gotten from them had to go back in exchange for the next size up. And their sizing chart had inch measurements, so even that can be misleading.

Or how about what you ordered turns out to be somewhat different than what you thought?  Brings to mind something else...how nice it'd be to have a brick & mortar medieval shop where we could try stuff on and there coudl be an experienced seamstress/tailor who could do the job of customizing the rags.

I swear it, if I ever hit the lottery, this WILL be SEW.  And that'd be the name of it too!  lol
