Medieval Parties
« on: 2013-10-09, 02:42:34 »
My grandmother would have medieval parties once a year during a time called midsummer a pagean time,do any of you know what midsummer is? Anyways, im trying to arrange for our family to start this celebration of medieval things. It died out because it became a challenge for a medieval costume, food, and drink. Hope i can start this family tradition up again. P.s. Post was made by sir nate P.S.S. We should go do something like this that is more local for all the knights(thatd be fun)

Midsummer is the middle of the summer.

What do you need help with? :-\

He needs help with spelling or typing. "Pagan" I think you mean. You referring to the ancient pagan practice of celebrating the summer solstice?? Other than that, I digress to Thorsteinn's last statement.

sorry for but my grandmother confused me, because i thought she would have ment mid summer was on a completely different calender system. then after i made this she said oh wait it's probably the middle of the summer.
(respect to the old)
Im 15, im going to make spelling errors, and what i needed help with was that if mid summer was during a different time of year than what is on our calender.

That's what I was thinking of. Also a Gargoyle's episode referencing it.

I'm also going to guess Summer Solstice?

Every person is imperfect. No need to apologize. Most knights were illiterate in their time. Puts us a step up in one sense.

Illiteracy is relative but fear not for I'm dysgraphic. I can read quite well, but without spellcheck I'm hosed.

An equinox occurs twice a year (around 20 March and 22 September)

The summer solstice occurs on the day that has the longest period of daylight. Depending on the shift of the calendar, the summer solstice occurs some time between December 20 and December 23 each year in the southern hemisphere[2] and between June 20 and June 22

all from wikipedia :) cause i couldnt remember either lol
