Second vote for Sir William's link to Oakheart. Heard nothing but good things about them.

I made a copy that conforms to the standard shape, etc, for the website. Clicky for large copy:

Yes Sir Ulrich I prefer this version also. I think where the holy orders where concerned the general laws of heraldry can be bent a little.......just look at the correct Templar shield/banner  where a red cross quite happily lies across both a black and white field.
As far as shield material goes.....go for a wooden one every time for authenticity. Metal shields are a more recent theatrical addition. Original medieval shields and pervaises were always made of wood with other materials used for re-enforcement etc.

Thanks, thats better looking than the one I made, less blocky looking. I dont have anything to shop with other than MS paint. I think I just might get one of those shields by Oakheart armory with that coat of arms painted onto it, then work on a surcoat.

I got a question. How do you order custom shields? I did check their page but there is no custom option for ordering ones with your heraldry. I don't feel like painting it myself cause I'm not an artist AT ALL, of course if I could use stencils I probably could but ehhh still I'd like someone skilled to do it as your shield looks quite nice actually.

Send them an email; let them know which shield shape you want on it and include a pic of your coat of arms and whether or not you want arm straps (and a guige, if you don't specify they won't put one on there) and they'll quote you a price.  It really is that simple.
