Alternate use for a pavilion tent
« on: 2012-05-07, 19:59:32 »
My buddy Mike’s young daughter just had a birthday party last weekend.  Mike and his lovely wife took their round pavilion and turned it into a Fancy Nancy â„¢ party tent.  They have way too much creativity in that family!

Cool! Great idea. They really do come in handy for all sorts of things. We usually set ours up without the walls as a sun-shade for the 4th of July parties at my sister-in-laws place.

That's a very arts-and-craftsy idea, even down to the multi-colored plates with the big plate, smaller plate, small plate idea. Very cool idea indeed!

I shall not dishonor myself by putting forth what I thought was meant by the thread title.  Yours is much more worthy, Lord Rodney!  lol

Why, Sir William, you must be confused.

The title did not read "PRIMARY use for a pavilion tent".   ;)

One of our members has a blue and red pavillion, but the red has faded to pink....it is now affectionately known as the "princess tent  ;D

I have often thought of using my bergundian tent for kids medieval themed parties.

Large medieval style tents are not cheap; use them as often as possible.   :)

They don't have to be used just for medieval themed parties as Sir Edward pointed out.  Set it up if you're having a few friends over for beer and brats around the campfire.

I kid, Lord Rodney, I think what you did was smashing...and you're right, medieval style tents are NOT cheap.  I guess I should count myself lucky that I don't indulge in the overnight events...altho I should like to one day.

I made my own pavilion battle tent from a 10' x 10' party-tent and added the trimmings & fixings to accommodate my navy-blue & yellow-gold colors. Easier than having a time-period one made to every fine detail by a skilled craftsman & at a great expense (Could range from $500-basic to $3000-more elaborate). I used colored para-cord to act as my tent-lines, and improved a light-weight, black-colored misquito mesh that serves as both bug-barrier & privacy lining.  I made a 2 inch diameter hole in the tent' center where I post my colored-pennant to fly above my tent.  Still working on my tent though.  I'll add pics when complete.

I'd love to see pictures. Sometimes modification of modern gear to look more period can make for a decent, cost-effective compromise.

Indeed. Looks like a Maypole at one of the Ren-Faires. I'm certain their daughter loved it!!! Excellent effort on their parts.
