Medieval(esque) Wedding

My family and I were honored to attend a medieval-styled wedding last weekend.  A brother and founding member of my SCA company was married to his beloved.  The weather was perfect and the couple radiant.

The wedding was not a living history event, but a medieval inspired event with a dash of Disney thrown in.  Huzzah Dave and Michelle!

Friends Moth and Katrinka had their binding ceremony (kind of a pre-wedding) at Lilies War under the grand pavilion.  (Moth is the Best Man above, closest with sword raised)

I love that it wasn't just a sword-arch, and they had the ladies lined up with skillets across from the gents with the swords. Nice. :)

Awesome! Little things like the gonfalon up at the "altar" area really pull that together. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Congrats & Huzzah!! My wife & I had our medieval wedding in October, 2008 at CTRF (Hebron, CT).  Had a handfasting ceremony, etc.  Ceremony was followed by a great feast with the family.  I also got to have my 1st full-armored tourney in the same weekend.  Couldn't have been better.  Remember: "Always worth doing right the first-time, and never not worth repeating itself."

Ours wasn't a medieval wedding exactly, but we worked in some of the elements we liked. We "tied the knot", drank from a shared cup, circled the fire-pit, etc. Some fairly atypical things these days. And of course, I put swords on the groomsmen and we had a sword-arch:

I like it, that's awesome!  I wanted a medieval wedding but my wife wasn't having it; but she did request that I wear a sword- so I was happy with that.  Great pics all around you guys.

Now I am getting plenty of ideas when I tie the Knot with my Lady Love (who ever she will be and waiting for her).  This is plenty full of great suggestions and I did noticed the one elements that appeared in all of the photos: Swords and Roses/Flowers   ;)

Yep, the bridesmaids at ours raised their flowers with the sword-arch. It was a last minute thing on their part, and I though it worked great. We also had rose petals laid out in a pattern on the walkway.
