Doesn't it? I feel your pain. It took me almost 10 years to finish my mail (mostly because it took that long to get up the enthusiasm to finish it, since it was wearable the whole time).

Still doesn't beat the hand made stuff for me. Maybe it's a bit more practical but I like the look of hand made objects the most. It's hard to find long hauberks of maille anyway, most of what you find are short sleeved maille.
