The rondel itself looks fine. I believe the rivet holes should be on the flats as you've done. So I'd try Rodney's suggestion.

I didn't realize you had drilled through the haft and peened the rivet on both ends.  It could be removed with some careful work on a drill press, but you might be better off making a new rondel.  :(

well good news. i made a new rondel. bad news i don't have any small bar stock. i tried using some brass bar stock but it was too brittle by the time i started riveting and they cracked. so we'll look tomorrow to see what i can find.
