All these years as vaporware and now it is finally real!

Yep, I KNOW the end of the world is coming for sure now!  ;)

Ya, I know, crazy isn't it? When the company folded, I figured that was it... all hope was lost. Then these guys bought up all the rights and materials, and said that with a hard push for maybe 6 to 12 months, it would be possible to finish the project. I was skeptical, of course. But it looks like they might actually have been able to do it!

This is really messing with my understanding of the universe. I think my brain will implode when I start playing it, or something, because it's destroying my reality.

Your brain won't implode, but it might be permanently disrupted. The makers would kill you, but that would be against their religion, interrupting suffering that is. ;-)

I remember being so stoked about this game when I first heard it was coming along but I have little patience for games that spend as long in developmental hell like this one has.  I fear the inane and juvenile humor isn't going to cut it for me anymore.

My dear Sir William, there is ALWAYS time for inane and juvenile humor!  :D

No argument there...but I'm a little salty that it took this long.  More than likely I will play it...but it isn't on my list anymore of games I gotta have.  ;)

I use to play death match against one of my employees via modem. We still get a laugh out of some of our more epic battles. It is surprising just how deviously innovative you can get with those pipe bombs and laser trip mines!  ;D

I just love how the teaser ends... something like this:

Female voice: "Duke, is the game any good?"

Duke: "After twelve fucking years, it should be!"

Ahhh, the good ole days...we used to 'test the network' by playing death match on Quake III: Arena...and the VP was an avid gamer so he was onboard too.  That, and BattleZone was another good 'network test app'.  lol

Up is down! Left is right! Squares are round! The world makes no sense any more!

I vaguely remember the original so, so long ago. The only memories I have of it the last few years are from the sound clips on the Youtube videos of people annoying other people on Ventrilo. I wonder what this one will spur?

LOL @ Sir James...that's pretty much how I remember it.  I can recall playing only once...I remember being fond of Doom at the time so I was biased.  I think I'm telling on myself now.  lol

I played a lot more Doom than I care to admit. Duke 3D was great fun though, and I played through it several times. I'm tempted to see if I can get my copy up and running again and give it a shot before the new one comes out (assuming it actually is coming out).

I played Doom and Doom 2 quite a bit. I played Wolfenstein 3D too, which if I remember right was out before Doom.

If we're going to date ourselves ... my first gaming systems were an Atari (regular, not the 2600) and an Intellivision - WEIRDEST controller design ever!

oh yes, intellivison! my mother had to go to the chiropractor cause she got her back out of joint form playing "Burgertime"

man i miss Doom, Doom2, Duke, the Quakes, Castle Wolfinstein, Heretic and Hexen? they were all great games of the times

Yeah, I started with a pong machine. I never had an Atari or Intellivision, but friends had them. I jumped straight to the NES from there, as far as consoles are concerned. I've been PC gaming since the original 8086 model 5150 IBM PC. :)

My first machine was a Colecovision...similar control schema as the Intellivision...but had a larger library of games that were a lot of fun, if not derivative in some cases.  Mousetrap, Ladybug, Qbert and Donkey Kong were the early favorites, followed by Rocky (which had a new and interesting controller requirement), Zaxxon (which was the first flying game I'd ever seen that tried to deal in 3d)  and Turbo (even had the steering wheel and pedals).  Ahhh...good times.

First PC game I ever played?  Strip Poker, on the Commodore 64, on a floppy.  Too much info for the cassette tape.  How's that for dating?  LOL
