Well, I was able to make 5 versions of the COA and save them in PNG format, at least theoretically, to my computer. However I seem unable to upload them to the forum or even see them in my files. I do get lovely previews here though which look like what I made. Ed, what am I doing wrong?
To describe them, first I reversed the blue and the red to show the gold lions better:
1. Per cross Gules and Azure, 2 lions rampant contourney Or
2. Per cross Gules and Azure, 2 lions rampant facing inwards(?) Or
3. Per cross Gules and Azure, 2 lions rampant coutourney Or, Cross fitchy (?) Or
4. Per cross Gules and Azure, 2 lions rampant coutourney Or, Cross fitchy (?) Argent
5. Per cross Gules and Azure, 2 lions rampant facing inwards Or, Cross fitchy (?) Argent
Once I can post them here let me know which one you like best and I will run with that for my COA.
Thanks,
Ancelyn

Fantastic, this computer does not recognize PNG files.

How are you posting the images? There are several methods that work. If you post them on a web hosting site, such as photobucket or flickr, you can post bb-code into your message to link to them. If you use the 'img' bbcode tags but use a local path (something like "C:\my documents\photo.png"), you might see it while previewing your message, but the file never left your computer.
The other method is to use the "Additional Options" button below the text box when posting a forum message, and use the image uploader there. You have to resize the photos first or save them at a smaller size, since it has a size limit. Generally if you convert an image to JPG at about 640x480, you won't run into the size limit.

I will give it a try.

I'm still working on getting a way for members to update their own info and COA. Sir Edward has master control and can update those files. I'm not sure on Sir Edward's thoughts of emailing it to him, but that may be a possibility. If not, you can PM me for my email address and email it to me, and I'll post it for you.

Who can recommend "GOOD" software to use to create a COA? the free stuff does not work, or at least does not work with my computer. It won't recognize PNG files at all. :-(
Thanks

Do you have any sort of graphics editor? I haven't tried the "paint" program that comes with Windows in a very long time, so I don't know its capabilities. But if you're using Blazon95 or that java-based CoA editor, you can hit Alt-Printscrn to capture the entire window into the clipboard, and paste it into a drawing program and crop it down to just the image you want, and save in a different image format.

Okay, done. Man work was busy this week. :-)
-
That is one regal looking CoA, Sir Ancelyn! Very cool indeed. So if only one lion faces dexter, does that mean you're just sorta sinister? ;)
-
Yeah, just sort of sinister. I can never manage maniacle, wicked, or malicious. :-)
And it is much better that the real Eliot, Eliott, Elliot COA. Very booring, no animals, just some horizontal bands of color. blah.
-
Very regal indeed. It reminds me of Edward the Black Prince's heraldry.
Side question: Did you save as a jpeg or png? There's some blurring going on that looks quite suspicious as an artifact of jpeg compression.
-
hey wow nice
-
Wow! That looks excellent! It shouldn't be too difficult to paint that onto a shield! :)
-
A jpeg, but I will try to play with it some.
If this is already in use by someone dead let me know. :-)
-
na it just sorta looks like it. mine is my actual family coa so i think your in the clear

Did you do it via the online COA editor? If so, I can post a PNG version for you.
-
The online editor made a beautiful version. I put it in MS paint and made a jpeg. I also saved a copy in a word document and it at least looks very good.
The editor has frustrated me in that I cannot save a usable file to my computer or see it once it saves; but all file uploading tools I have used give previews which show the file. How can a file save with a preview and no content? :-/ At least it is done.
-
Let me know if this looks more clear to you. I'm not 100% on the sizing of the lions and crosses, if they are too small or too out of position let me know how you want to adjust them ... I left the window open so I can make changes easily.

Sir James,
Yes, that rendering looks like the image I saved to WORD. The image in my avatar is now a PNG file, but looks a little worse than the JPEG did.
-
It looks great! I agree, very regal looking.

Feel free to right-click, save as for the image I posted. :)

Your kindness is appreciated Sir. James.
