Which side would you choose, though? Norman or Saxon? Either way, it looks very authentic, I bet they all had a BLAST doing it! And it appears they're all garbed in period armor using real swords and axes (blunted of course)...I think I need to do so as well, Sir Red Knight!

Excellent pictures! Ah to be a winner of the lottery! The things I'd buy and do! :)

Like hosting such a battle here, stateside? Dreamt about, over and over again. lol

there used to be a hastings in Maryland. it still goes on but its much smaller than it used to be. i was in a few of them a few years ago, haven't been since they lost the 1 site in about 4 years

I think I would like to try Norman one year, Saxon the next.

if you do Norman you gotta do it all the way like me :)

Then Saxon it is! :D

I like how you do things, Sir Wolf- full immersion. Only way to go, in my book.

Then Saxon it is! :D
hhhahahahaha i get the hint ;)

What? Hair grows back...as a Saxon, you'd have to have it real long so you wanna do the Norman one first anyway. Saxons...
Sir Wolf, do you go the whole nine yards, no bathing, sleep in your armor and/or same clothing the entire time? Prepare and eat period fare?
-
no bathing? you need to read up ;) Vikings and their kind were the cleanest peoples in Europe. They took ice baths, used combs and ear spoons. and no, I have a Geteld tent. I am a proper nobleman from Normandy when I do my hastings impression. I have money and title, just looking for more land that my buddy Bill told me he'd give me if I help him out heheeh
and the Saxon would be too hard. they didn't all have wild long hair. some looked like a bob almost. but they are known for their handlebar (or long) mustashes

I was speaking about the Normans, not the Saxons, with regard to hygiene. You did answer my question though, thank you!
