Title: New banner/lance.
Post by: Sir Brian on 2013-10-25, 21:08:17
I converted a two-piece flag pole for convenience of transportation. A quick paint job with some satin finish spray paint and it can almost pass for a lance painted with 'milk paint'! ;)

btw, the place I purchased the flag pole was from CRW flags in Glen Burnie Maryland and I bought one of their 'warped' wooden 9' poles that I cut a foot off. They also sell just the coupling joints if someone wanted to put them on a pair of dowels.

That is a very fine spear. I especially enjoy the flag.

Looks great, but need a bit more breeze to show off your banner better.  :)

Thanks all!

Looks great, but need a bit more breeze to show off your banner better.  :)

Hopefully tomorrow @ PARF I'll have more of a breeze to show the banner! ;)

It is always that way for trendsetters and it only becomes cool after the second and third person does it! ;)

So Sir Wolf gets points for originality and Sir Brian just gets to follow his fine example. Sorry, no points for second best in this category. :) lol Sir Wolf wins the "I did it first so Ha-Ha" award. Sir Brian gets the "I did it better than you did" gift certificate (redeemable at any SCA event). There, now we can all be friends again.

And just so there is no doubts about my winning such a prestigious award here is a better

Nicely done, Sir Brian- I should've thought of that myself (found an old 2pc flag pole in the old condo during the move, but can't remember what I did with it).  Your kit overall is most impressive.

Man, if I knew it was going to turn into one of THOSE kind of contest then I wouldn't have cut two feet off of mine! :P

Right, so I'll just put mine on one of my 15 foot pikes. Top that!  ;)  Seriously, that is nicely done. It was great seeing you closing weekend at PaRF. Thanks for coming to our demo and being the but of our jokes about Knights, you were very gracious. The Captain really appreciated that and asked me to thank you, since I knew you and all. Someday I'll actually get working on my mid 14th century kit instead of just talking about it (while cheating on it and putting more money into my 16-17th century kits  ;)).

No by all means please convey to all in your company my thanks for including me as I had a great time and really enjoyed your show. You all did a fantastic job of presenting some very informative demonstrations yet balanced it perfectly with the right amount of jocularity. My wife even paid attention and you know how short of an attention span those Fae have!  ;)
