Checking in, lots of moderate rain, no damage, no outages
-
Same for us. We didn't even have our lights flicker so we were very fortunate!
-
ok here in WV. lots of rain, wind and a lite skiff of snow. my mom lost a roof on her wood shed and got a little bit of water in the furnace room but that was about the extent of any damages here
-
Lost power only for a moment. Otherwise just leaves everywhere and a few branches.
-
Lost power for a minute or two in the middle of the night. No other damage here, except for ruining my plans of setting up my Halloween display.
-
Glad everyone made it through okay.
Leesburg actually cancelled their Halloween parade, and are not rescheduling it - it's the longest running parade east of the Mississippi, and this is the first year it's been canned completely. Sad. :(

I hope my brethren and their families accross the pond are all safe and sound.

I escaped unscathed thankfully. Went to the Berkshires to avoid winds & power outage. Hope all others faired as well. My thanks for the thoughts Sir Gerard. :) After hearing of the blizzard conditions in WV, I presume Sir Nathan is being made to shovel snow by his parents. LOL :P He'll be quite busy this week.

Christie moved Halloween to November 5 for NJ. A section of the boardwalk by the newest casino (Revel) was demolished. Other than that, the only thing that happened to me was losing power from 10pm till about 5pm. I'm glad I'm 45 minutes inland of AC!

We made it through ok, lots of rain and wind but no damage (that I could see). My folks are on Long Island; their town is currently under martial law- no power, no water and no food, with looters making the rounds so impromptu neighborhood watches have formed to combat them. Most of the houses on the seaward side experienced flooding, the dunes have been knocked down by the waves coming off the ocean- large sand drifts on the streets leading to the beaches. When I spoke to them last, the roadways were closed to anyone who did not have an ID showing they were a resident - still not sure how my father managed to get back in (he was in FL when the storm hit and drove back that night and stayed with me, left in the morning with 30 gallons of water and assorted foodstuffs to get them thru the day til they could find supplies elsewhere) but he did. Keep them in your prayers, fellows...for my part I'm hoping the looters pass them by.

Martial law, you say? Neighborhood watch? Round up the knights!

I have been living in third world conditions for the past 4 days now. I averted a gas leak, which I saved the lives of myself my brother my father and dog thanks to my quick thinking. Thank god the hot water heater gas burner didnt go off otherwise our house would be blown up. I still dont have power but I do got internet due to the generator and I hope it works but I have been going crazy without any contact with my friends.

Sir William and Sir Ulrich,
I am so sorry to hear that you or your families are having to go through this.
I am sure that our brethren on the forum send our prayers and support at this time.
Sir William, Please pass my warmest regards to your folks.

Yeah, losing power and internet is a pain. Where in NJ are you? I know a lot of the state got smacked pretty hard. I was looking at some of the aerial photography and the like. I also had the news on all day during the storm, and watched a lot of the first-hand reports there and in New York. Just curious which town you're in.

No power and no internet is what we did for fun at Days of Knights for 4 days. :)
Seriously though, good job at catching and averting the gas leak! Hopefully you'll get power back soon.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes, brethren...I am much obliged. If I can, I'll see if I can share some of the images with you (they're on my phone and I never really learned how to get them off of there, I've muddled through it a time or two). Martial law is still in effect, still no power but they have running water now and all of the neighbors have pooled resources so everyone's linked to a genny somehow and they've been making regular supply runs further inland; they've still got about 2 feet of sand to get rid of that's taken up residence wherever the wind blew it (don't know if I mentioned the dunes got destroyed, long story that). The water's been removed, now it'll be time to remove all of the carpeting and dry wall on the lower levels of most of the houses on the block. Gas seems to be in shortage as well, despite Bloomberg allowing tankers into the bay.
I am hoping they'll lift the restrictions and let out of towners back in- only residents are allowed in and out of that area for the moment.
Ulrich, nice catch- my Mom did the same thing too. Fuel had spilled in the garage, she could smell it but couldn't reach the breaker box so one of the neighbors was able to do it for her.
