Title: Sword Belt for Long Sword by The Inner Bailey
Post by: Sir James A on 2012-04-14, 02:08:30
Recently received my sword belt for long sword from http://www.theinnerbailey.com/swordbelts.htm; (http://www.theinnerbailey.com/swordbelts.htm;) they do multiple centuries, so you can get a belt proper for your choice of period(s). I'm happy with the quality, and the buying experience was a fun one. I got this belt, specifically:

The three-point suspension should make it easy to adjust the angle to exactly what I want it to be. It's also based on period examples. With the adjustable mounting points, I can use this one belt for both my tapered long sword and wide 'war sword' too. And when the shipment notification email literally says

Quote
Unto the Lord James Anderson, Warm Greetings and Glad Tidings!

Our village's blue-liveried messenger has been furnished a hot meal, a fresh mount, and bade Godspeed on his journey to your Shire. With hard riding and barring misadventure, your parcel shall arrive 2 to 3 days hence.

it makes good news even more fun to read! Right now I only have pictures of it unworn; pics of it in use will be taken soon.

Cool! I love when they can have fun with the ordering process like that. :)

Yeah, those sorts of 3-point suspensions work well for 15th century stuff. Do you have a specific sword in mind for it?

Yeah the Inner Bailey is a great company. I've ordered several items from them in the past and the quality is top notch @ a reasonable price. Oh and they use to send a small leather coin pouch with your purchase as a sort of free gift or a business card carrier to pass out their business cards. I use the black one to hold the gold dollars I hand out and I gave the white leather one I had to Sir Edward a couple of years ago.  :)

For now, just the CAS/Hanwei longsword and great sword of war, but it's adjustable enough it should fit an eventual Albion Baron / Maximilian, or some of the other larger blade styles that I favor.

Well done, Sir James...Master Harold and milady Susan are good people, friendly and well acquainted with the meaning of good customer service.  They made up a left-hand rig (I got the swordbelt of the Circle, the same one I was telling Sir Nathan about yesterday) - it was a late order and probably should've been at the back of the queue but Susan understood it was for my wedding so she made sure I'd get it.  Funny thing is, it got delivered to a neighbor of mine who walked it over the next day, two days before the wedding!

I've used that belt for a number of appearances, not just the wedding- nearly 5 years later it is still as strong and resilient as the day I got it.  I can't say enough good things about the Inner Bailey.
