Ah yes, back when having a negative AC was a good thing!

Not only are we talking about D&D, but it's old-school, first edition AD&D. :)

As Sir Ed said, it's old-school AD&D. You had a rating that starts at 20, called THAC0 - To Hit Armor Class 0. It has some modifiers to make it more/less likely to hit. The two primaries are the weapon; a +3 sword gives you a bonus of 3. The other is the "Armor Class" of what you're hitting; a negative or positive number. So if your level 8 Paladin has a THAC0 of 17, you need to roll 17 or higher on a 20-sided die (1d20) to "hit" that target. A +3 sword means you only need 14 or higher. If the target has bad, or no armor, their THAC0 might be 6; in which case you get a +6 bonus, and only need an 8 or higher to hit.

So the name "Armor Class" has instant association with some people. :)

That's precisely why in D&D 3.0+ they moved away from THAC0 and negative AC's and just went with straight forward D20 rules and AC's that go up to reflect better protection of course!  *snort* /adjusts glasses

KOA usually has great prices for us over here. Are the prices for Armor Class a lot lower on your side of the pond?

Here`s a link to some of their medieval swords;

Even with current exchange rates I would say KoA are marking these items up quite a bit.

Hard to say. Looking at the "Medieval Sword Fish Tail Pommel", it's about $314 on KoA. AC has it listed as £200 (assuming it's sharp, or £170 for the blunt). Current exchange rate is about £1 = $1.57. So KoA's price is roughly £200 as well. Sounds spot on.

Yes the exchange rate fluctuates so much it`s hard to keep up lol.

Hey, is that Ogre?

You know it!  For a while I was afraid the reference too obscure and everybody really would think that was my mug!

Well, Revenge of the Nerds is right up our alley, altho our younger brethren probably did not get it.  Funny, but true story- I went to school with Wormser, graduated same class.  He was a snotty little sh** when I'd first met him (in Player's Theater Group of all places) but he wasn't such a bad sort once you got to know him.  Kid bought himself a Jag on his 18th, can't be mad at that!

Are you seriously name-dropping Wormser? :o  Just kidding, just kidding.

Just relating a funny story...there are maybe 4 people outside of this forum who know that, my wife and my parents making up three of the other 4.  Can't remember who that other person is...my own siblings don't even know it.  lol
