Title: The Templars are coming!
Post by: Sir James A on 2011-12-22, 07:18:20
BJ, who made Sir Nathan's surcoats, finished my Templar surcoat:

Exactly as I wanted - plain, functional, and perfect for the "warrior monk" status. Now I just need to finish tailoring the sleeves of my hauberk and get the mail sabatons trimmed to size. :) The surcoat is in the mail and on it's way to me (this picture is from BJ). Pics of it in action with the mail will be coming soon.

Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!

Huh, the picture didn't embed for me until I visited the link first. In case anyone else has that issue, here's the URL:

Welcome to the Order, Brother.  :)  How much did BJ charge, if you don't mind sharing that?

Now, if I could just get the rest of you in Templar gear we could storm every Faire on the east coast!  ;)

Hey, I'm glad you got yours from BJ! I'll make sure to bug her about it at some time  :)

That's going to look great Sir James! I'm waiting for the Christmas funds to come in before I start on my latest kit plan  ;D

Awesome, now just time to take my oversized GDFB templar surcoat and get it resized.

I was thinking if we have enough "common" things, we could have "theme" days at faire as an Order - Templar Day, Teutonic Day, etc. I'm working on the shield Sir Edward gave me, it's painted white and I just need to make the red cross and edge/strap it. I got a box of rivets in earlier this week - sheesh, those things have gone up to $24 a box; they were $5 a box when I bought 'em last ... 10 or 15 years ago. :o

I'll send a PM with the pricing.

Actually a good theme is just "crusader orders". I think the "Ren Deus Vult" thing ended up being that way too. Not everyone wants to do the same order, I suspect.

Both ideas are good...altho Sir Edward's might be more feasible as most of us have some form of crusader order gear.

Yeah, I think a Crusades theme would work best  :) More open for the guys who haven't gone fully into the Miltary Order side of things  ;D

Well, now I need to get a shield with the beausant on it; since our esteemed Knight Commander has made it clear he approves of 'accurate' shield imagery.  ;)
