Well, I'm now a married man! Sir Wolf and Sir Brian were gracious enough to take part in the event. We had a nice outdoor location, and even though it was rainy and cold all weekend, the rain stopped before the ceremony.
We had a sword-arch at the end of the ceremony, and I had all the groomsmen wear swords. I wore the Albion Landgraf with its DBK custom scabbard (I'm going to have to email him, I think he'll be quite thrilled that one of his scabbards was a wedding centerpiece).
I don't have a lot of pictures yet, since it'll take some time to get the professional photos back from the photographer, but my brother-in-law Jon took some and handed off his camera when he was otherwise occupied, so we do have some already. I put some of the better ones up on facebook here:

Once again congratulations! How is the ol' ball and chain? Not chaffing you I trust! ;D
Thank you for including Rosemary and I in your wedding! We had a fantastic time and it was great spending time with some really great people we don't get to see often or long enough! :)
-
Congratulations to the both of you!! Love the medieval sword arch!
-
yes it was an awesome time. i have to say i have never been more proud of my best bud. he was truly moved by his vows.
we had a great time at the wedding and the reception. it was a great honor to have been invited let alone be apart of the wedding party itself. the weather was on the cool side, but i was warm in my wool suit (yeah!) i had to change my oldest into warmer clothes by the evenings end. the scenery was second to none. the "PoeStank" was awesome and the grounds were rich in their settings. this wedding was full of laughs and cut ups and made it feel like you really wanted to be there, to be in the moment with the bride and groom. everyone wanted to lend a hand or chat it up all thru the night. was a great time had by all. lots of GREAT FOOD, great drink, great fellowship and great laughs. the only sad part of teh evening is when i had to take off Ed's albion and give it back. cant wait for all of the pictures.

Congratulations Ed, I wish you many years of happiness.

It was a very lovely wedding, and I'm so happy that you and Kat have finally made things official. I've often referred to the two of you when talking to other people as being two of the few people I know who truly just seem perfect together. :)
I don't actually have any pics of me with my sword on (Andrea took one, but I'm at an angle so that you can barely see the hilt), but she did get a picture of us doing the sword arch.
-
Yeah, I really wanted to run around and take pictures myself, but I knew I'd be too busy to do that, and I was. :) Boy, I had no idea. I knew it would be hard to get around and talk to everyone, but it was even harder than I imagined. Kat and I barely ate anything, didn't finish our slice of cake, and ended up eating at Cracker Barrel around the corner after we packed everything up.
The sword arch was truly fantastic, and we handed out several loaners to folks who didn't bring swords. I had enough Albions with scabbards to equip the groomsmen (except Jon who brought a katana). I spent some of Friday afternoon cleaning the swords to get them ready, and that included going over the entire blade surface on some of the cheaper CAS-Iberia pieces with a dremel (the blades had turned a nice light brown/grey color). The Albions, thankfully, just needed to have the pommels and guards cleaned up a little, which brightened up just fine with some steel wool and CLR. I did notice a few marks and pits on a couple of my blades, but no active rust. I really need to clean them much more often.
It took us a long time to get here, to make things official, but the wedding was great and we're very happy with how it all played out. I can't wait to see the professional photos!

I forgot-- I wanted to thank you for making such a nice compliment. I know I certainly feel that way. I love it when people agree. :)
I hope everyone had a great time, enjoyed the party, the food, and so on.
And I hope the groomsmen liked their gifts. Groomsmen/bridesmaids gifts can often end up not being very practical, so I got the groomsmen lock-blade knives, engraved with their names and the date.
I'm still not entirely used to my new ring. But what's funny is that I'm not used to it because it's smaller than the other ring I used to wear... my silver Grim Reaper. :)
-
heheh oh ya like mine!
i still say u need to take your old ring to a tattoo artist and have it tattooed under your current ring

Congratulations again to you and your beautiful beautiful bride. I said at the time, but I will repeat myself here, it was the grin on your face that brought tears to my eyes. I am so very happy for the both of you. Mark and I both wish you two all the best in the years to come.
-
Thanks! Yeah, I couldn't stop grinning. Apparently everyone could see that. Wow. :)
-
Huzzah and congratulations!

hehehe grin

The photographer posted a starter sampling of pictures to her blog:

Man, she did a nice job.
-
Wow, very nice job indeed.

Huzzah, Sir Edward! May all of your years be full of happiness! Wow, I'm away from the board just a few days... ;)
-
Congratulations, Sir Ed! I am thrilled for you and Lady Katherine.
I wish you many years of chivalric, medieval-themed happiness :D
Sheesh, I am really the kid around here. I am working on keeping a girlfriend for a month, and you guys are all getting married ;)
-
lol :) Yeah, but it's worse. Most folks get married long before I did. I waited til I was 38. :)
-
38? That's older than I would have guessed!
And hey, I'd say the wait would be worth it to make a good choice ;)
-
What a day to remember! You two look so happy. Good luck and best wishes on your new journey together. :)

At least it only took you the one time to get it right. Took me two. ;)

I wanted us to do an Addams Family style tango at the wedding, set to the Masochism Tango, but we never did get enough time to practice dancing. Anyway, here's the song for those not familiar with it. :)
Tom Lehrer - The Masochism Tango - now on DVD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TytGOeiW0aE#)
-
That would've been interesting to watch.

Many belated blessings!! Sorry I missed the festivites Sir Edward. Is there any cake and/or mead left???? :P
-
Surprisingly, yes. We still have mead left, believe it or not.
And when we finally ate the saved-cake this past fall, surprisingly it held up pretty well. :)
-
lol! i remember our cake, it kinda got uncovered and dried out. we laughed after the first bite and i think thru it away heheh
-
I still have our cake from Oct, 2008 in the the freezer. :o
-
ewhhhhhhhhh

Is it bad luck to not eat the saved cake? I think ours got freezer burnt or something...I'm not sure if we ate it or not...or if there was any left, now that I think of it.

I would say no more or less than walking under a ladder or black cats crossing your path and such. If the determining factor of success or failure in a marriage is whether or not you eat a one-year-old cake, something else is probably amiss. :)

Well spoken, Sir James. I hold very little stock in 'luck' as it stands.

Stands true that the test of marriage comes from the willingness to accept each other as you are & compromise as needed by making adjustments in time to accomodate changes, not the ability to stomach the stale left-over ceremonial pastry in the fridge.
