Ancient Knightly Wisdom (True Quote, no matter the source)
Lord Dane:
Proverbs 8:12-20 (I like this particular one as it is in meaning of "faith in God" and interpretation as it could be directly applied to knights - who serve the Lord)
"I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment..."

Faith, Honor, Prudence, Wisdom (The four virtues of divine justice)
Note they adorn my Order's crest in the form of the Lily Cross (The Easter Crucifix); originally adorning the Cross of Jerusalem in a different form. The Lily is the Easter flower and seen as holy and signifies purity. White lilies were said to be laid down by Mary at the site of the crucifixion on the holiest of Catholic holidays (the resurrection of Jesus) to signify and celebrate the life and sacrifice of Jesus (a day of mourning). Whether it was true or not, it has continued to be a practice by Christian pilgrims who visit the holy site.
The meaning of the full verse references Jesus's words of God after throwing the merchants out of Temple of Soloman on the day of the Sabbath for procuring their goods in a holy place of God. I took its meaning as the wisdom of God is resolute and all who love him, are loved. Justice is loving God, accepting his word, and upholding its meaning. Righteousness is practicing the word of God in life and not defiling it by profiteering on his day (i.e. Saturday is traditionally the first day of the Sabbath & such activities are not allowed). Those who love him, serve him and are loved in turn. Kings reign because of his love (the province of "divine rule" comes from this). Princes, nobles, and judges are all servants to him as well and must see God's law upheld (the notion of divine justice). Evil is arrogance and defying God's word through unsanctified acts that shall be subject to his judgment.
Riches are obtained through him and loving him, not through other means. Gold and silver is the money of men (root of evil), and following God's word (wisdom/knowledge/humbleness) is what makes a man rich, a King reign, a prince rule, a noble just, and a servant faithful, and righteous in their actions. Through practice of his word, those who serve God prove their "faith" and would be just in action against those who defy him through committed acts of pride, arrogance, and evil (the deeds that God's law prohibit in practice by those who are his children and faithful followers). Understanding and upholding the word of God in service to God brings "wisdom", to which, one understands "prudence" in action. Those who serve him - are righteous and just through "faith" and bring "honor" to his name. (Faith, Honor, Prudence, Wisdom)
