How to Draft and Sew a Martial Surcotte that Will Fit Well and Look Good
By Tasha Dandelion Kelly

Sir Edward:

Cool. Mine are essentially pattern B. Pretty easy and straightforward.

Sir William:
That's awesome...do you think it'd be bad if I got my Mom to make me one?  She's quite the seamstress...I'm embarrassed that I didn't think to do this til now cuz I'd simply forgotten.  She's made some really awesome dresses, upholstery (still don't know how she did that all by herself, from cutting the fabric to shaping it for cushions etc), dolls for my sister, etc...

If I pay her then I'm good, no?  :)

Sir Edward:

Actually I think there's something charming about having an armored knight who can say "Yeah, my mom made the surcoat for me" :) The jousters at the Pittsburgh faire are like that. Their mom is the queen, and makes their surcoats.

Sir Brian:
I say it would be charming and also very period. After all the knight was a representative of the family’s honor of which the mother is typically the matriarch of.  ;)
