Saw something very similar to that on an episode of Bones; basically the thief hid in a vintage suit of samurai armor in a vault, replete with hydration kit and urine bag and waited til everyone left and lifted all the cash that was supposedly in the vault.  Turned out to be even more mysterious but I figured they'd gotten the idea from something that had actually happened.

What gets me is no one bothered to check to see how the armor was 'assembled'?  I would've been pulling pieces to find the substructure, thereby finding the human inside it.  Then I'd drag him back to sea and hold him under the water til he stopped moving, and then take the harness home.  Idiots.  lol
