Sir Nate:

--- Quote from: Sir Aiden on 2014-02-19, 04:22:09 ---Luckily German shares in many things in common with English. I eventually wish to learn Latin and French, and get to learn more English terms. I don't care about Italian lol.

Italian didn't exist in the Middle Ages

Sir Nate:

--- Quote from: wilburnicus on 2014-02-19, 02:29:50 ---I was gonna say...
It literally reads : By the friend, and each other obstacle and by the world heart, it conquers.

If you would like, here's a more accurate translation:
Amici, et virtus, et cor purus omnes impedimenta vincent.

(I took Latin for 6 years)

--- End quote ---

I took Latin for 2 years. Pig Latin for a day, and switched to German.
The Latin just didn't click for me German does.

Exactly

Sir Nate:
Quid nomen es tibi?

Mihi nomen es Marcus et Cornelia est amicus

It's sad this is a majority of what I remember. Still I can recognize Latin in words.

I don't know when it was invented/formalized but Italian definitely existed in the medieval period. There are Italian terms for plate armor pieces and I've seen reference to books about armor written in Italian during medieval times.
