The Greatest Compliment I Have Ever Been Given At Faire
(1/1)
Sir Matthew:
Saturday I was in my Brigandine Armor (minus my spinted legs that I have on in my Pic), my Elizabethan period armor as I call it. A gentleman from Ireland was visiting Faire and while I was talking to a couple of other armored individuals, he came up to talk to me. He told me I looked exactly like an Elizabethan foot soldier on campaign, not only my armor and weapons, but the wineskin I was carrying and the snapsack on my back. He said that I was be far the most period looking individual wandering the grounds that day. As I talked to him, I found out he was a historian in Ireland and lived not far from where O'Niel's Rebellion occured in the late 1500's. A compliment like that coming from someone from Europe and knowledgeable in the period really made all the hard work and research worth it! I was very pleased to have someone appreciate me not just for being in armor, but for being as authentic as possible in all of my equipment!
Sir Brian:
Huzzah and congratulations! Appreciative approval is always great but genuine esteem from a subject
matter authority is supremely satisfying! :)
Sir Edward:
Well done, and huzzah!
Are you planning any more trips to MDRF sometime soon?
Sir Matthew:
I'm not sure if I shall be down again this season or not. I thought about coming down Sat. since it sounds like there will be many from the board there and my Penn State trip has fallen through, but some other things have come up.
