Sir Edward:

After nearly destroying my spurs at VARF this past week, I decided it was time for something a little more close-fitting without such ridiculously long shanks, so I ordered some from here: http://www.quietpress.com/spurs.html

After seeing Sir Brian's I figured this was a really good option!

Also, Bill started a thread over on the Selohaar forum about Revival Clothing's new wrestling jackets: http://www.selohaar.org/forum/index.php?topic=127.0 which look very promising. I decided to pre-order one of these.

Anyone else expecting some new toys soon?

Sir Brian:
heh that is so funny because I was looking at that as well when I replied after you to Ryan
on the myarmory board where I suggested he look into that jacket for use as a gambeson.

Of course green would be fine for me and the sleeves look long enough. As far as the sizing that
Michael Edelson was pointing out, I think the basic barrel shaped guys like me should be fine...
I haven't had that predominant "wedge" shape in decades!  :D

Congratulations with the new spurs as well! Did you get them gold plated and strapped?
Because it is well worth the few extra bucks! I haven't had to polish them yet and the
straps are highly durable.   :)

Sir Edward:
Yep, went for strapped and gold plated. The gold option is really nice, since it's very hard to get gold to tarnish or corrode. Usually it needs to be cast and have microscopic surface pitting in order for tarnish to occur. Otherwise it should stay bright and shiny with little effort, which is a good thing!

Well, the brigantine (or coat of plates, as far as I'm concerned) arrived yesterday. It barely fits around the shoulders, just over a t-shirt, so I may need to widen it to make it work over mail. Ironically, despite my more "modern proportions" these days, it fits just fine around the waist. I could always wear it under the mail, but I don't think it needs too much adjusting. An inch wider at the top would be great, so maybe a tall and thin gusset over the sternum would work. I'd also be tempted to replace the upper strap with a hook closure or something. It has a back-closure, and I can buckle the lower one myself, but the upper one is right between my shoulder blades.

Sir Wolf:
wait how is it too small?

Sir Edward:

Yes, believe it or not, it's more snug around the shoulders than the waist. :)
