Lenticular Shields. A lesson

(1/1)

Thorsteinn:
So I made a tumblr post about being hit in the jimmy.

--- Quote ---So sometimes folks wonder if there is a difference of use between a Lenticular Shield like in the picture and a regular flat round shield.

Yes, yes there is. This sequence of shots shows me going from getting ready, to fighting, to taking a skipped shot right in the crotch. I was recovering back to guard when I saw my opponent swinging for my ribs so I chop blocked the shield into the blow while voiding the leg and the waster bounced into my cup. Hard.

I had never used a large lenticular design and had assumed it was used like a regular round. I did not realize like I should have that it has many characteristics of late period bucklers that are also of a lenticular design. I learned fairly quickly though. Any questions?

Sir William:
Harsh lesson, Thorsteinn- thank you for sharing!

Sir Nate:
Thank you. ( You sacrificed for knowledge) (The hard way) (imagine if you hadn't had the cup?!)
