Very cool video of making period riveted mail

(1/2) > >>

B. Patricius:

very cool video, not period techniques but makes very good mail:

and the last one I've found

and then a very good article on Arador I'm sure most of you know of:
http://www.arador.com/articles/chainmail.html
also from Arador is this article on making your own riveted mail tools from store bought tools, easiest one to understand that I've found:
http://www.arador.com/construction/forth2.html

and lastly, something that isn't period, but looks pretty good and is quite easy, if there is such a thing for riveted mail lol:

pretty cool as a whole, I'm going to try my hand at a smaller setup not needing a big anvil since I currently live in an upstairs apartment.  I'll be making a tube-type setup to mash the mail, everything else I'm good to go.  First though I'll be finishing up my prototype kit of butted mail, then on to this.  But Sir Ulrich wanted the resources I've found, so here y'all go!

Ian:
After watching the first video, and having tailored riveted maille in the past.  I would rather be waterboarded, then make a haubergeon using those techniques.

It definitely helps one appreciate all the work involved lol  ;D beyond that though, I hate tailoring mail garments.  I'd actually rather be waterboarded than tailor mail personally! For some reason it gets all messed up lol

Oh look! You can throw money at the problem!
