Sir Ulrich's shield

<< < (3/6) > >>

Sir William:
Noticed that...was wondering what had happened to the rest of the commentary, initially.

Thorsteinn:
Nice!

Ian:
Looks awesome Ulrich!  I may have to order one of those.  They look great and they seem to do a great job with the custom heraldry.

Lord Dane:
Agreed. Has good detail Ulrich. If you choose to cover the steel rim, I have a suggestion that would 'hide it' to make it period but maintain its strength & durability. I did it to one my earlier heaters so I could use it in SCA combat & for period use. Best shield I ever bought was by Pitbull Armory but it's heavy duty steel primed black with brass trim..... hmmmm sounds like someone's new kit in progress.  ::)

Sir Ulrich:
I did read roman shields had rims of iron or brass. Makes me wonder if medieval ones did at one point. Prolly not a steel rim for the 13th century though but iron does seem possible. Rawhide was probably most likely but i'm still unsure if they had steel or iron.
