'Medieval' Camp chairs / stool
Sir James A:
Haven't posted an update for a while, so figured I'd post the status of the furniture.
Rope bed: Done
Slat bed: Done
Large (4') two-shelf table: Done
Medium (3') two-shelf table: Done, made two
Dining Table (6'4" x 29"): Done
Dining Benches (6'): Done, made two
Small benches (18"): Done, made two
Small chests: Done, made two
Medium chest: Done
Large chest: Done (hidden ice chest)
Instead of posting lots of links, here's the album: http://s156.photobucket.com/albums/t8/jba3/medieval/camp-furniture-drafts/
It has 3 pages of photos. I updated the chests from the last posting, and added rope handles on each, as well as medieval padlocks for all of them. The padlock hardware is from Home Depot, but didn't come in black, so I had to paint it. Turned out okay.
I don't have pictures of everything fully stained and set up, but I will after Days of Knights!
Sir William:
I can't believe you pulled all that off, Sir James...the rope frame bed is an especially nice touch.

The Order's master carpenter has been quite busy! How the heck did you manage to make all of that stuff in such a short amount of time? Bravo! And how are you getting all of that to DoK? ;)

I'll let you know if I find the "master carpenter", as I've only seen the wood monkey in the mirror. ;)
It was ~2 or 3 months of mostly weekends, some evenings, and some lunch breaks. And some late nights. And some assistance an entire weekend from my squire. And a very understanding and supportive wife!
For transporting, everything but the chests breaks down flat and assembles with wooden pegs. I'll be stuffing it in my truck, and I made the beds, dining table, etc, based on the length of the truck bed. Tent fly, ropes, stakes, clothing, etc, will go in the chests before putting them in the truck, so it should be very space efficient.
Sir William:
Nice pre-planning you did there, Sir James! I can't wait for you guys to get back with tales to tell!
