My planned "Soft" Kit (clothing) - opinions / feedback

<< < (2/7) > >>

Sir Edward:

Yep, looks good to me as general medievalish renfaire garb.

Sir William:
I agree...it'll be a good look for you.  You know, up til now, I thought a soft kit was one of leather armor...it seems I've got soft kits in my closet!

I really like those boots on that model...they sell 'boot toppers' at MRL that look like those...but are not those.  I guess cheaper than making the whole boot.

Do you have pics of your warrior boots?  I need a pair of brown boots but have not found any to my liking for under $300.

I have no idea if the pic I posted is historically accurate, it's just the name of the costume in the game. I'm not attempting to portray a particular period, but if it is all reasonable for a 1495-1505 Venetian Noble, I'm happy with that label.

Cool, thanks. I placed the order and I'm crossing my fingers that (1) it's in stock, (2) it gets here before the knightings, and (3) it fits me. Eventually, I'd like to get my heraldry on the cape (hence the black), and possibly the vest (which I changed to black, for the same reason), or if that isn't reasonable, to have a tabard made with it, at least.

I have always heard soft kits refer to clothing, but mostly by SCA members; I think they coined the term. I usually see "soft kit" as a caption when they post pictures of clothing.

It should be right under the text that says "Warrior Boots (brown)". It shows up for me. I can email you the picture and/or link if you PM me your email address. Surprisingly, the whole boot is cheaper than some of the boot toppers, and IMO, looks better. I have my old thigh-boots in storage from over a decade ago, but I fear my thighs are a bit different in size than they were when I was 18, so a new set was in order. :o

Sir Wolf:
:)

i know you have some 14thc armour. would you want a outfit more suited for the look of it? if so let me know and i'll help you out.

For now I'm happy with semi-generic soft kit, since we're not all of the same time period when we go to faires/events. I have a couple other harnesses (the MRL gothic, a pseudo-16th cent italian sport harness, a generic samurai one ... and one more quietly in the works), so I'm not too worried about matching soft kits yet.

If I decide to do any Living History and want to portray a specific period, you're the first one I'm going to bug. :D
