Sir James A:

Hack and Slash gone!?!? I've seen them every time I've gone, even over 15 years ago. I still have a cassette tape they sold back in the late 90s.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing - time will tell. But knowing the favorite acts won't be there has put a damper on it for me, as it's half the fun for us.

Sir Edward:

Yeah, there are a bunch of changes this year I hear. They've basically said that a good portion of their attendance does rely on there being a gradual evolution. That a lot of people have no real reason to return if the faire never updates and everything is always the same.

In the case of Hack and Slash, there was a year a while back where they didn't come (or they had a reduced run, or something, hard to remember) because they were trying to play hard-ball and asked for too much money.

As they mention in the article, we'll also have to get used to limited ticket sales this year. The ridiculously crowded days will get capped. Theoretically this doesn't impact the season-pass holders, but it could be a real shock to people showing up late on the busy days expecting to buy a ticket at the door.

Sir William:
I try not to buy tickets at the door...except for that one time when I lost them somewhere in the parking field...I generally don't go for the shows, I go for the people.

Sir Brian:
I go to ogle buxom wenches and guzzle cold beer! ... Oh and gorge myself on the crab dip!  ;)

Sir Rodney:
MD is kind of far for me. ;)

Consider the Minnesota Renaissance Festival if anyone will be in the upper Midwest this year.  My usual routine is:

Beer
Arms & Armour booth
Beer
The New Riders of the Golden Age jousting show
Beer
Scotch Egg(s)
Beer
Puke & Snot comedy troop
etc...
