Title: Warband Mod:
Post by: Sir Brian on 2011-02-25, 23:22:25
This one is beyond a doubt my all time favorite thus far!  ;D

Well there has finally been a mod pack made/compiled that has all the goodies I've always wanted in Warband single player.
This one is called, FLORIS MOD PACK: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,197.0.html (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,197.0.html)
Not only does it have vastly improved graphics, expanded playability and transitional armor, it also has new and improved combat animations!  :)
Here is a sample:

Is Warband like WOW or something? I've never heard of it before...

Warband is essentially a medieval combat simulator. The multiplayer aspect appeals to some but I prefer the single player. Warband was a major game engine expansion from the original Mount and Blade whose primary claim to fame was reasonably authentic mounted combat. Warband has been released for approximately a year and there are now numerous MODs available for it. The entire mod and gaming community around it is highly developed even though it is sometimes rampant with rabid fan boys engaged in various degrees of douchebaggery.  :-\

The single player (SP) game is a totally open sandbox genre that some find a bit tedious mid-game but IMO is one of the best aspects. The game is developed by an Independent company that originally started with just a husband and wife team. The game is offered in a try before you buy format in that you have all SP features available to you except you are limited to 6th level I believe. – Oh and there isn’t any healing potions, magic items, monsters, etc.  ;)

That's actually armor model that comes with the native game. The guy that did the transitional armor models did a great job. (wasn't shown in the video but is in the expanded version of the MOD) ;)

That sounds like a cool game, how do you get it?

And is it online only or can you play SP offline?

I haven't play M&B for a long time, since just before Warband was released.  I might have to dust it off!

I just did a quick search for warband and it looks like a freaking awesome game.  :) Kinda sounds like a historically accurate version of oblivion.

Is it only for PC? I hope not because last month we had to remove the computers graphics card 'cause it was draining power...  :(

I love this game. I tend to play the 1257AD mod which is basically the perfect medieval combat simulator. Never played it online yet though. I actually played it since 2008 and it is highly addictive.

I might have to dust off M&B at some point as well. I haven't played since beta.

@ Robert: Yes unfortunately it is only for PC. If your graphics card was draining too much power you could always upgrade the power supply! ;)
Yeah Warband to me was just an vastly improved game engine for Mount and Blade. MP was ok but not as a random public server type of MP.
It is much better IMO with actual clans going at it in epic battles but then again I don't even bother with the MP.  :-\
Here is some screen shots from the MOD.  :)

Yeah that is the next mod I'll be checking out after it's released! :)

Cool avatar/character and good looking graphics.  :)

I also like how your avatar/character owns a Albion talhoffer and knows some german longsword guards!  :D

yeah, we could have replaced the power supply but it's an old computer and my parents didn't consider it worth it to install a new power supply. I would probably have paid for it but most of my cash is going towards finishing my kit.  :-\

I'll have to try out this game when I buy that laptop for college!  :D

Hey Sir Brian, did you get your splinted greaves and knee cops to match your avatar, or was it the other way around? ;)

Theres my character(s). Sorry I couldn't get him not covered in blood, I just happened to butcher so many Saracens with my axe that just happened to be how I looked.

Also I warn ya you may have to hack the memory of your computer to play 1257AD or else it will give you bizarre crashes. I had to do it myself but it's pretty easy to do and the tutorial is actually on the forum for the mod.

No I had my splinted greaves and cuisses before the mod was available...That's the reason why I bought those for my avatar
so he'd be a close match to my RL harness.  ;)

I asked some folks on the game forum to make a banner out of my new CoA so the avatar surcoat would match the new one
I'm having made but no one has been kind enough yet to make one for me...my photo shop skills are pathetic!  :D

That's awesome man...unfortunately, I don't have the graphical ability for a game like that as most of my rigs are barebones and just for casual usage.  Doubt my wife'd let me play on her new laptop!  Still...I can hold out hope that maybe one day it'll come to a console...it looks wicked cool though.

Well I finally got my CoA modded into the game thanks to a kind kid on the taleworlds forum. :)

hehe, yeah some of the new weapon types really need a rework with their lengths.  ;)

I'm digging that cut away surcoat, Sir Brian.  Is that what your long-awaited-to-be-unvieled new one is going to look like?
Title: Re: Warband Mod:
Post by: Sir Brian on 2011-03-05, 13:25:59
Regrettably no.  :-[
I locked down the particulars of the new surcoat order prior to me downloading the transitional armor mod which that armor is part of. It is cool though and definitely worth considering if I opt for a second surcoat to be made!  ;)

Looks great!

Yeah, I need to dig out my copy of M&B again at some point.

Why?  Its a game...having a monster blade like that only makes it even cooler!

Great, just great.  Thanks to this thread, I dusted off M&B yesterday and played the native (standard) version.  Now I'm hooked again.  Thanks a lot...   ;)

Did you upgrade to Warband yet?

They really revamped the engine from M&B. The mod I originally posted about expands upon the
native version of warband even more...oh and your welcome!  :D
