I didn't see much about this at all (I avoid politics like the Black Plague) except on TV in the bathroom at work. That was an extremely well written article, though.

As much as I enjoy arms and armor, and as much as I would like to know how it was centuries ago, I think I would be truly terrified to be standing watch over my home with sword in hand. It's almost crazy to realize it happens even in today's world.

Terrified, yes...but you would still do it...because the consequences if you did not would be too dear to contemplate.  At least, for me they would be.
