Post by: Sir Wolf on 2010-11-02, 12:52:30

Well, so far whenever anyone has asked if Kat and I have set up a wedding registry anywhere yet, I keep saying "Albion" :)

I can't remember the last time I made a Christmas list...but my wife rocks when it comes to gifts so I leave it to her to surprise me.  She's wary of getting me swords or armor for fear I may not like what she gets.  She's learning the difference between SLOs and actual swords - my parents bought me a sword for Christmas last year, it was one of those Tempar wall hangers.  Cute gift, thought of using it for a Ren Faire sword except its way too gaudy for my tastes but you know how it is...they meant well, right?  :)

Sir Edward, that's an awesome gift registry...Albion.  lol

Yeah, my fiancee and I are having a harder time getting gifts for each other lately, mostly because we have expensive tastes, and anything cheaper we've probably already gotten for ourselves. Enter the wishlists... I hacked together a wishlist program a few years ago so we could keep track of gift purchasing amongst her side of the family, which is much larger than mine. Sometimes it's just easier to go and look and see what someone wants, buy something from the list, and check it off. :)

Sir Edward, that's an awesome gift registry...Albion.  lol

Hey, I'd take A&A (armor.com) or merc's tailor too. :)

LMAO

I'm sure you will, my friend.  So would I!  Anything in particular, since we're talkin about it?

I was about to answer with just the word "yes", but then I realized that I really mean "no, nothing in particular" because I want all of it. :)

EDIT: Actually, I have a somewhat out-dated wish-list at the bottom of my weapons page: http://ed.toton.org/weapons/ (http://ed.toton.org/weapons/)

Yes would have been a perfectly acceptable answer...from that one word, I would've taken it to mean you wanted all of it.  I can get with that as I'm in the same boat!  You seem to have quite the armoury already stockpiled, but I like some of your examples...you really can't go wrong with an Albion.

I'm thinking, my next commission's either an Albion, or I'm gonna go for it and get a Lundemo blade.  Pictures don't do justice to his work...keep you guys posted.

Now I'm laughing at the 'all swords must be battle ready' stage you went thru...having gone thru a similar one myself its amusing to see I wasn't alone.

I just recently purchased a Sabersmith Naginata for my yoroi harness. It has an awesome feel and I've always wanted one for my collection. They're currently wrapping it in blue, purple, and black nylon and leather to go with the harness. I also had them remove the wrappings at mid-point so I can fully slide my hands for a thrust.....probably my Christmas list, but I DID also just purchase a nice thumbhole-stock AK..... ;D

As far as weapons and armor go my list is modest:

Riveted Maille Hauberk and Chausses
Warhammer
Falchion, combat grade for reenacting
Crossbow (medieval or ren style not a modern one)
Arquebus
Wheel Lock Pistol
Falconet Cannon

Here's my Medieval Wish List - to call it a Christmas list would only be setting myself up for the fall.  LOL

WA Visored fantasy Spangenhelm (http://wildarmoury.com/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=48)
WTC Wisby Coat of Plates (http://www.wintertreecrafts.com/CoP.html)
Tailored welded mail hauberk w/integral coif (www.weldedchainmail.com)
Mad Matt's Armory Chartres arms (http://www.madmattsarmory.com/inv_arms.php#)
Leather Mystics Deerskin gauntlets (http://www.leathermystics.com/gauntlets/gauntlets.html#deerskin)
Armstreet legs w/thigh plate (http://armstreet.com/store/armor/medieval-combat-leg-legs-armor-with-thigh-plate-2)
Bohemond Custom Cavalier boots (http://www.nmia.com/~bohemond/Bootshop/cavalier-page/cavalier.html)
Oakheart Armory custom shield (http://www.oakheartarmory.com/32901/8201.html) - unless Red Knight would rather...lol
Handmade Leather costrel (www.jelldragon.com/specials/spec1208.htm) - not sure if this link still works or not
Albion Vassal falchion – don’t have the direct link but you guys know Albion already right?  That or a customized Valiant Armoury one, if they ever make it
Thrusting spear (http://www.medievalcollectables.com/p-89-thrusting-spear.aspx)
War Hammer (http://www.medievalcollectables.com/p-5064-german-war-hammer.aspx)
Poleaxe (http://www.medievalcollectables.com/p-3343-medieval-pole-axe.aspx)
A Black horse w/full armor accoutrements (http://www.newhorizonsranch.com/MedievalDarktanion.gif) - armor not shown

Might as well go full-on, no?

If money were no object, I'd take this suit, in black with blue accents (and the horse lol):  http://www.lightlink.com/armory/kelly.html and here's a shot of the helm open:  http://www.lightlink.com/armory/lining.html IF money were no object, which it almost always is.  lol  Ah well, that's my wish list, such as it is.  Probably take me 2-5 years to get it all together.  Part of the fun is in the assembling of the various pieces, no?  I'm sure there's more that I'll want as time goes on but this is all I could think of offhand.

From what I've heard, that is one HELL of a sword...solid as a tank.  Imagine the damage you could inflict with it though...man!
