Aurora Morrigana Freyja Karp was born today at 5:30am after 9-ish hours in the hospital.
Both mom & kid are fine though no adult involved has gotten more than 1 hr of sleep since yesterday.

The size of a baby used to be an indicator of whether or not that child would be healthy and live beyond childhood. Now, its for bragging rights; it is one of the usual bits of information that are passed on at birth, you know, the gender, length, weight, whether or not the baby was born w/hair and what color, etc.
Forgot to add: CONGRATULATIONS, MAN!!! You're in for it. ;)

Congratulations! 1 hr of sleep? You guys are spoiled! Welcome to dadhood, I hope you find it as rewarding as I have.
As far as baby size goes, I use it to determine how bad I feel for the mother :)

Congratulations! Sleep is overrated! Just look at that baby's eyes! Nothing else matters once you have a child...or so I am told :)

Congratulations! The length and weight are given because there is not much else to report. They all look like Winston Churchill at that age and we can't yet comment on their personality.

Well, if you're a scientist or an engineer, you probably are interested in all sorts of metrics, such as physical dimensions, weight, mass, aerodynamic resistance and lift... ;)

I want to know how one would test for those kinds of things. Do they have baby wind tunnels? If not...think I could market baby wind tunnels? It sounds like a winner idea to me! ;)

We just had a wind tunnel donated to our school district for a special aerospace high school program. Swing up to the Twin Cities and we’ll test this baby out. Literally!
