Niice find. That's exactly how I'd order it too.  People want to reclaim too much of their original money on used albions though.

Very nice! I got my "knight" on Ebay as well. I think I managed to get it for about $500-600. Clearly this person knows their value. :)

A really nice sword. Does know anyone of you, how much is shipping costs to Germany?

I like the aged finish, I'd prolly get it if I wasnt already getting one, though I prefer older designs.

According to Ebay about $47.00 USD or about 36,34 EUR.

I have the Squire Line version of this sword- and I bought it after handling Sir Edward's Knight, talk about lively.  As far as handling goes, it is probably my favorite sword.  With the exception of the rivet block and elegant guard, its near identical to the SL - minus the aging too.

Since it is a popular sword, he might get what he's asking for it, especially since its been aged.  If he was only asking $600 I suspect it would already be gone.

Yep, the price is worth it. But you're right, it would sell quickly at a cheaper price. Lately Albions move a little slower if you try to get something closer to what they're worth, since people don't have the excess spending money these days like they did a few years ago... down economy and all.

There is also the most advantageous; 'get it much sooner than later' aspect of an Albion ready for shipment!  ;)

If his asking price was a little more reasonable that sword would be half way to my house right now  :D

MyArmoury albion listings sit for a long time when people get greedy on the price. It seems once it's in the $200 off retail range they go quick. Oh, and random thought.... anytime I see someone ask for 3% increase for using paypal is an instant turn off.  The seller should always eat the 3% fee, it seems so petty to put that on the buyer imho.

Post by: Sir Edward on 2012-11-29, 16:19:28

It's also gotten to the point on ebay that you sometimes have to eat half the shipping (as the seller) if you want things to sell reliably. People don't like seeing large additional charges of any kind.

I dont have an Albion either yet. Been wanting one for a while, Jesse Bailey hasnt gotten back with me on it so I assume they lost interest in selling it to me. Though I think I should message them again about it, in all honesty I get worried they forgot or something.

Just joking, I didn't bid on it. I don't have any Albions either - I'm finding myself partial to the Arms & Armor weaponry lately. Good luck with the sword. :)

His original "buy it now" was only $100 off the price of getting one new. I think he may need to bring it down slightly more. I think to most people, used is used, even if it's in perfect mint condition.  Saving maybe 15% isn't always enough to get someone to spring for it when they could just wait and get a new one later when it's more convenient.

Probably 5 or so years ago, there was a time when you could recoup 90% of the purchase price or more, since people had the money and wanted to bypass the order lag-time from Albion. I think that time has passed. :)

At least his minimum bid is now $200 below Albion's price.

I've kept an eye on it, simply because its a beauty and I like looking at it.  As I continue to do so, the little things, like the high rivet block, the gently flaring arms of the cross, the well defined pommel, all point out that I have, in fact, the Squire Line version and not the 'upscale' Next Generation version of this sword.

Cruel is side-swiping me by underbidding on my Albion. But I'll let it slide. :P LOL Next Order outing Sir James, we'll switch up swords to see how our new purchases measure up to standards & compare. :) I love this new one!! Anyone ever hear of Michael Axon (Axon Armoury) out of Omaha, NE?? The man has outstanding blacksmithing/sword-making skill. Judging from mine, his swords are solid & well-crafted. And I paid half of what an Albion would run & the quality is just as refined compared to a Del Tin or A&A sword of similar design. It's much lighter (less than 3lbs), well-tempered, and high-quality steel. Cross-guard, hilt, handling, balance, pommel are all up to par & look sharp. Has a functional, sharp edge and thrusting point. Handle is dyed Ostrich Bone with a brass pommel and cross-guard. Looks like a Guingate sword but of much better quality. Can't wait to try it out on my cutting post. This one is not for competing with, it's for show or cutting limbs in combat.

If anyone wants his info, I'll pass it onto you. He seems local only which is a waste with what I can attribute to his apparent sword-making ability. He has no website, I bought this through private auction.

The funny thing is, he declined your $500 bid, and I put in a last minute offer of $500.01 and he accepted it. 8)

(I kid, I kid....)

Congratulations on the new purchase. Does he want to get a website? I've been doing that for around 15 years, and depending what he wants to do, I'd probably trade services for a blade or two. Does he have an email? If so, send me a PM and I'll contact him and see if we can get him online and getting some more orders. :)

Yea, I didn't think much of it either, figuring you were joking.  You were, of course, joking, right?  Because that would be insane...unless you were totally revamping your collection by freeing up space (and funds) for new and better weapons.

Oh yes, totally joking of course. I've never sold a single weapon I've bought over the last ~20 years. Only thing selling / sold so far is some old / ebay / indian / not-merctailor armor. :)

Ironically, I'm pretty much out of space on my weapons cabinets. I made it with space to add more weaponry - but apparently - not enough. I had to take out the polearms to make space for the newest swords (hence the polearm rack). I'm not sure what to do about the lack of space yet. The near-future project is a shadow box for my family heirloom masonic sword, possibly a proper display for the in-the-mail samurai harness (a yoroi box w/stand). Then I'll get some updated pics of everything after that's done. Unless the whole Mayan Apocalypse cuts my plans short...

Yeah, I'd be buried alive in swords if I didn't sell a bunch of them over the years. I've probably sold off as many as I still own. Basically, as my tastes have changed (specifically, gotten more expensive), I've sold off the cheaper junkier stuff along the way.

This year is the first time in about 14 years that I've broken the "age rule", in that my sword count is just under my age now. I include the steel trainers in the count, but not other lighter fencing weapons (foils/epees), or trainers made of other materials. I do count the display-only swords (which is also my justification for including blunt trainers). Though of course it doesn't include maces, polearms, etc. My overall weapon count is still well above the "age rule". :)

My tastes have changed as well, and I can partially thank you all for that.  I was perfectly and blithely ignorant in my Windlass happiness...and then you had to go and ruin it for me by allowing me to handle Albions for the love of all that is good!

Come the new year I'll be releasing a lot of my swords and armor bits- and I've never subscribed to the age thing, if only because I couldn't afford the blades I'd want to reach my age.  lol

Lord Dane, while I may sometimes be envious of other's purchases (against all that is knightly...), it's a secondary notion. My first thought is always "congratulations!", and I am happy that a fellow member has received a new piece that they like .. be it weapon or armor; be it Albion, Windlass, eBay or otherwise.

But in the spirit of the forum - "Yes! Do it! Buy more!!! MORE!!!!!!" 8)

Competition is healthy & even knightly as most jousters would agree, Sir James. To covet thy weaponry is in no way sinful or unknightly as they are just tools of the trade. What's wrong w/ wanting better toys?? :)  ;D
