What an awesome event! I'd really love to hear the details on how the sharpened steel coronels are a safety feature. I'm not questioning him, I just like to know these things so I can explain to others. All he said was how it grips in to the shield, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. I would love to attend an event like this. Or one day participate in one! :)

That is one aspect of the safety, yes!
The other is that a big lump of steel does not extrude through a vision slit, whereas a bit of wood does.
Also the coronel does have a limit to it's penetration in comparison to a single point, that is however a small comfort, and definately the most publicised and least important factor.
