Finished re attatching the sleeves today, one arm i did perfect, but the left arm i got confused somehow and you can clearly see the seam of chains, but it doesnt matter really now does it? I would say it gives it character lol. Also cut a line in the bottom for more movement, will post more pics tomorrow, says my pic right now is too big

Excellent! Yeah, it's easy to get confused on the pattern sometimes. But if it's at the shoulder, it might not even be seen under your surcoat.
The forum is a little strict about file-sizes for attachments, so you can always shrink the picture, or otherwise post it on a site like flickr, photobucket, etc, and use bb-code to show the picture in a message here.

You're going to like the way you look! I guarantee it...now where have I heard that before? ;)
Seriously your maille is going to feel so much better being properly fitted to you.
Well done and congratulations! :)

Expanding rings is my guess, but I'm cheating, cause I've done that :)

lol, I've never done it that way, but it makes sense. I use needle-nose pliers, so they fit inside, but I open by offset rather than by spreading, so they line up again with the right curvature. And with flat rings, that's really needed anyway.

I was too lazy to walk all the way out to the garage to get needlenose, when I had the scissors in front of me. With the rounded butted mail, it works. Flat ring/riveted, I wouldn't try - I hate doing that even with two sets of needlenose.

Sir Edward, what do you mean by offset? I may be incorrect in what I'm envisioning.

Bending it perpendicular to the plane of the ring, rather than spreading it within the plane.

Got it. I'm still leery of cutting up my flat ring hauberk...can't seem to find matching rings so I may be out of luck.
