Very nice! Do you have a website or contact info for her?
(on a side note, the dirk and arrow folks are going through some health issues right now if people were trying to get in touch with them for gonfalons)

I don't think she has a website, but her name is "Isabella E" on the ArmourArchive.org site
I heard about the Dirk and Arrow folks. Sad to hear, they do very good work. :(

Let me know if you want any help. It can be hard to decide!

Excellent banner, Sir Ian. :) Wondered how she would do a quartered panel banner.

Oh man, that looks fantastic- I'm glad you went with her, she does great work! I just bought a 'portable hole' (I only heard of these just last month lol) so I can put my banner up anywhere there's soft ground- just need the shaft to tie it to and I'm good to go.
Thought about using it for when I'm armoring up outside the Faire at my car...I'd leave it there but w/my luck someone would just snatch it up. Had a hell of a time finding my car the last time we got together. lol

My head refuses to acknowledge this is not an actual D&D item, and must have some kind of realism to it. What's a portable hole??

Thanks, Sir Wolf- I managed to get one off of one of the AA forumites, but forget who it was, exactly. In any case, they were welding up some and I got ahold of one, it was like $30 I think. Anyway, all it really is is a bed rail cut down with a piece welded over one end to make a square opening (might be two such pieces, one further down to stabilize the pole) with the bottom part being just the rail - that's the end you push into the ground. Instant standard bearer!
Just need the pole. Any ideas where I can get one? Been to my local HD and all they had was staves already prepped for shovels and other gardening style tools. I'll need two...the other to mount my spear and buttcap onto.
-
go to the lumber dept in lowes or home depot. look for clothes hanger poles. there near all of the trim i think. you can get them in like 8 and 12 ft.
-
Thanks Sir Wolf...I was just in the HD and didn't see anything like that so I'll try Lowe's.
-
The weather didn't cooperate for her, so she sent me a pic of it still stretched out, but mine is in the mail to me now!

We managed to find 8 ft poles (1 1/2" diam?) in the Home Depot near my house. I've been there at least 50 times; never saw them, somehow.
-
I still need to take some photos of my new banner. I may tie it to my spear at first.
-
I went to my local HD and all I could find were shovel and garden implement staves. Grrr.

You can always pick one up at the HD here at our next cutting party / event. Or I can pick one up for you and bring it to VARF. We got you covered.
-
The key was that the poles were with all of the moldings and wall trim. Never knew that til Sir Wolf pointed it out.
-
Moldings and wall trim? I'll check that out today after I leave work. Thank you kindly, Sir James- if I'm unable to get it on my own, it is good to know there are other options. I hope to find it here though...need to mount a spear as well as my banner.
I do have one of those 'portable holes' tho...something told me to pick it up and I did. If all goes well, I'll be displaying it (along with my banner of course) at VARF! I think we all should...maybe even do a bit on period heraldry, explain our blazons?
-
Well I couldn't stand the idea of being without a banner this year since it seemed likely you gentlemen would proudly be displaying yours so I just ordered MINE! ;D
-
Excellent!
-
WOO HOOO!!!! You won't be sorry, Sir Brian- Isabella does awesome work.

So how many of you have purchased one of these to support your fancy banner? ???
-
I haven't so far. It would be useful though!
-
I can't see that site, but is it the 'portable hole'? If so, yes, I have one- you can plant your banner anywhere that has soft ground.

Indeed it is. Seeing those in use all over at DoK really showed how useful those things are.
-
Methinks I'll be ordering one of those as well!
I'll have to swing by Home Depot / Loews for a pole as well. :)

Specifically from him? He isn't taking orders due to health when I emailed him last year.
-
I got mine via Icefalcon on AA...he had a group order thing going on I believe. How much is that one? I think mine ran me $30.

$18.50 plus shipping, but, not available. I have a possible alternative, but haven't had time to pursue it yet.
-
Yikes! :o
Well I'm glad I mentioned it then! :)
